While planning for our screening at San Francisco’s Roxie Theater July 16th, we happened upon California’s Adventure Out and its CEO & Founder Cliff Hodges. Cliff is a world class outdoor guide and AO takes its intrepid participants on a range of wilderness adventures on land and sea, while ensuring they learn to be safe, responsible, and pick up the survival skills required when living outdoors.
At the heart of Cliff and his company’s mission is an emphasis on environmental stewardship. In addition to being respectful of the natural environment on their many guided adventures, AO also donates a portion of its revenues to environmental conservation. As the makers of a film that tackles humanity’s complex relationship to nature, Cliff’s work deeply resonates. As do his stunningly cinematic Instagrams, which chronicle his wide ranging adventures. Clicking through we were instantly transported out of the digital realm and into the natural one:
Follow Cliff’s profile for a regular dose of wilderness adventure, or better yet, sign up for one of his famous survival courses.
If you’re a California nature lover (and/or film lover) and San Francisco is not too far off the beaten path for you, we hope to see you at the Roxie at 7pm July 16th for a screening of The Cold Lands and a conversation with writer/director Tom Gilroy to follow. Tickets here.
If you can’t make it, immerse yourselves in The Cold Lands from the comfort of your own couch here.
